Terms of Service
Last updated: April 2026
Plain-language terms for using Heirloom. The legal version will be added before launch — this is an honest summary of what you can expect.
What we are
Heirloom is a tool for recording personal information you want your family to access in the future. We are not a law firm, financial advisor, insurance broker, or estate planner. Records you store with us are not a substitute for a legal will.
What you agree to
You agree to use Heirloom for its intended purpose — recording your own information for your own family. Don't use it to store other people's sensitive data without their consent. Don't use it for unlawful purposes.
Disclaimers
We provide Heirloom "as is." We do our best, but we cannot guarantee uninterrupted service or that your data will be perfectly preserved against all possible failures. We strongly recommend you also keep critical information in physical form (e.g., a sealed envelope with your lawyer or in a safe deposit box).
Liability
Our liability is limited to the amount you have paid us. We are not responsible for indirect or consequential damages.
Termination
You can close your account anytime. If you stop paying maintenance fees, your data is preserved and family unlock continues to work — you just can't edit. After 5 years of inactivity (no logins, no payments), we may archive your account but will email you multiple times before doing anything.
